Aspirations in The Sims 4 are a key component to the sims you create. A sim’s aspiration is what they will work towards for the majority of their life. In other words, a sim’s aspiration is what they want to be when they grow up. By completing aspirations sims can earn bonus traits and other rewards that will affect their lives.

There are several aspirations to choose from just within in the base game and that number grows with every expansion pack and sometimes game packs. For example, The Sims 4: Horse Ranch added the Championship Rider and Expert Nectar Maker aspirations. Meanwhile, The Sims 4: Parenthood game pack added the Super Parent aspiration.

If you want a sim to complete an aspiration quickly then it’s helpful to know what tasks you’ll need to complete and what each aspiration involves.

We’ve put together the complete list of aspirations for The Sims 4 and an overview of what each aspiration entails. In The Sims 4, aspirations are broken up into 14 categories. Some categories only have 1 aspiration while others have 6 so there’s definitely an aspiration for every sim.

Sims 4 Animal Aspirations

Currently, there is only 1 animal aspiration in The Sims 4 which was added with The Sims 4: Cats and Dogs. If you choose this aspiration then your sim will be equipped with the Animal Affection bonus trait and the description reads: Relationships with animals begin at higher values.

Friend of the Animals

This Sim wants to be friends with the animals.

Included with The Sims 4: Cats and Dogs, the Friends of the Animals aspiration has 4 levels or milestones, as they’re called in the game.

Milestone 1: Acquaintance of the Animals

• Have a pet to your household
• Become friends with 1 animal
• Be friendly with animals 12 times

Milestone 2: Friend of the Animals

• Become friends with 5 animals
• Be companions with 1 animal
• Successfully train out 2 misbehaviors

Milestone 3: Best Friend of the Animals

• Be companions with 2 animals
• Feel the love 5 times
• Successfully train out 4 misbehaviors

Milestone 4: BFF of the Animals

• Play with 2 different ghost pets
• Feel the love with 8 different pets
• Be friends with 12 animals at the same time

Sims 4 Athletic Aspirations

The base game includes the bodybuilder aspiration. However, The Sims 4: Snowy Escape expansion pack added the Extreme Sports Enthusiast aspiration.When you choose an athletic aspiration for your sim, they will be assigned the High Metabolism bonus trait: It is easier to stay fit and trim when you have High Metabolism.

Bodybuilder

This Sim wants to work out and become as strong as they can be!

Included in the base game, the bodybuilder aspiration will require sims to reach level 10 of the fitness skill. There are also 4 milestones for sims to complete.

Milestone 1: Basic Trainer

This Sim wants to explore Mt. Komorebi’s wilderness and participate in extreme snow sports.

Added with The Sims 4: Snowy Escape, the Extreme Sports Enthusiast Aspiration will have sims taking full advantage of everything the expansion pack has to offer. From snowboarding to rock climbing, you’ll become very familiar with all of the activities available on Mt. Komorebi.

There are 6 aspirations within the creativity category. When a sim picks any of the creative aspirations, they will be equipped with the Muser bonus trait: Musers get better boosts to their skills when they’re inspired.

Musical Genius

This Sim wants to be an expert musician and songwriter!

The Musical Genius aspiration is part of the base game. It’s great for sims in the entertainer career or trying to become a famous recording artist. They will spend lots of time playing various instruments, listening to and writing music.

For sims that have a mean streak or love to dabble in mischief, any of the 3 deviance aspirations would be a great choice. Sims that choose one of the deviance aspirations will be assigned the Dastardly bonus trait. Dastardly Sims perform stronger and more successful mean interactions.

Villainous Valentine

This Sim wants to destroy the love lives of all Sims, including their own!

Included in the base game as part of the neighborhood stories update, the Villainous Valentine aspiration is an interesting one. As it states in the description, sims with this aspiration are only interesting in destroying the love lives of everyone they know. Sounds fun, right?! Unlock other aspirations that have 4 milestones, this aspiration only has 1.

Sims 4 Love Aspirations

One of my personal favorite aspirations to use when I’m not sure which one to pick for a sim is one of the love aspirations. There are currently two love aspirations in the game at the time of writing this article. By choosing one of the love aspirations, sims will get the Alluring trait which is described as: Alluring Sims are more successful at romance than others.

Serial Romantic

This Sim wants to play the field and go on dates with all sorts of interesting people!

Sims with the Serial Romantic aspiration typical don’t want to settle down with just one sim. They like to date around and have romantic relationships with multiple sims.

The Wellness Aspiration category was added when The Sims 4 development team did a complete refresh of The Sims 4: Spa Day game pack. Sims who select one of the 3 aspirations in this category will receive the Spa Membership bonus trait: These Sims somehow came into possession of a Spa Membership. Nobody is really sure where it came from, how to cancel it, or who keeps paying for it each month. But one thing is for certain, all fees at Spas are waived! Nice! These aspirations only have 1 level/milestone but several tasks to complete.

Self-Care Specialist

This Sim wants to make it big with monetizing Wellness activities like offering Manicures or Tending the Massage Table at a Spa.

Included in The Sims 4: Spa Day game pack, the Self-Care Specialist aspiration is all about making money from various wellness activities.

The Sims 4: Werewolves game pack added a unique twist to the way aspirations are structured in the game. You will start off with the Werewolf Initiate aspiration. Once that is completed then you will have the option to choose from four other werewolf aspirations. Sims that chose a werewolf aspiration will get the Lunar Confidant bonus trait: These Sims get an initial relationship boost when introducing themselves to werewolves (positive or negative, depending on how they act!)
